Be in the Mystery
The words shimmered out of @tonjareichley as if summoned from some great well of wisdom during her opening journeying meditation of the Morrigan and Elder class. They danced in the air, glowing with an ethereal white hue. I saw the words slowly dissipate and rest inside my heart.
Quick, think how our wisdom traditions of conquest and society of domination asks us to be in the west. Passivity is paramount. They hand us books of rules to uphold their patriarchal, orientalist social order. They ask us to patiently consume their mysteries in bite-size chunks that have been carefully curated for our consumption. “It’s not safe to enwrap yourself In the cosmic dance,” they say. “Just be content bearing witness, we will show you the way,” they say.
“You have more power than that,” a voice emerges from the shadows of the hedge. “Are you listening? Do you believe in your own power? You were there at the beginning of the universe. Are you not also divine? Walk the way of the ancients and become the mystery.” You turn and a figure emerges from the shadows. “Take your place in this age-old, epic tale, wildcrafting our ways for your age,” the being counsels.
Yes, we must be in, participate, and immerse ourselves in the mystery of the universe, of our ancestors, of the technologies we express ourselves through as Tonja counsels. We can’t sit by the sidelines anymore. The hour is too late and the world stands on a precipice of destruction. Just as my spindle and loom are pathways to the Otherworld, your tools are your pathway to other dimensions, other worlds you once couldn’t believe. We need more re-wild folk that will answer this call to co-create a new kingdom, a new set of keys that won’t have a master. We need those daring enough to create a new society based on participating in the great mystery.
